I haven't posted to this blog for three years - so what better way to come back than with a festive fun post! You will require a cup of tea and some biscuits for this read. Lewis and I took a trip to Rufford Abbey in Nottinghamshire.

Rufford Abbey was originally a 12th century Cistercian monastery and later became a family home during the Jacobian era. Today it sits as ruins of the once abbey with some little shops and some cafes. It's a cute little place and my grandma loved to take me and my brother Joey to have a picnic and explore the acres of grounds.

Lewis and I took some pictures in front of the Christmas tree. All the shops and the abbey museum were closed due to COVID but the cafe was doing hot drinks and snacks for takeaway and the Orangery and the grounds were open so we had a little walk round and had some time among the autumn trees and explored some of the sculptures and art installations that were in the gardens. The Christmas tree was so beautiful and they had done such a good job on it. They'd also installed fairy lights and it looked like a little grotto.

We had such a lovely day and grabbed a Costa on our way down - the hot chocolates were so good! We are definitely going to take a trip back here. It is such a lovely place to have a walk round and when the shops are open it is very boutique-ish and has lots of local goods sold at good prices. Especially the art and homeware!

Take care!
